Check out some unusual angles as Venom team riders Zak Maytum, Max Dubler, Max Capps, Nick Dunmall and Calvin Staub bomb down an oft-skated hill. Guest riders Aaron Breetwor and Austin Nicassio also make an appearance.

Wallpaper, pt 2 (Updated with more sizes)
I was at work, shooting boring photos of Venom bushings for shops to put on their websites, when the chance arose to shoot a new version of that old skatehouse wallpaper. Click through for 1440×900 resolution.
UPDATE: More sizes. 1920×1280, 2560×1440, and the full resolution 3961×2475 if you want to crop your own.

Aprés-Skate Party at the Santa Barbara Arbor Shop

Wherein your favorite skateboarders have some beers and rudely yell “Free bird!” at the live band. The evening was kicked off by a session at this somewhat-janky mini ramp in Isla Vista. Kody has pop.
There was a several-month period during which I was the best ramp skater at the skatehouse. Then Louie learned how to stand up on his grinds. If he figures out how to take pictures, I’m so screwed. As the longboard dudes got tired of doing kickturns and frontside slasher grinds, the party moved to the Arbor shop.
Remember: always bring safety gear to the party. You never know when you’re going to need it.

Session: SK8 Bus Winter Escape
When winter blows in and the skate bug is itching, it might be time to head out for a Skatecation. JP Rowan and Casey Morrow of Rip City Skate and PDX Downhill rounded up the crew and took the Sk8bus for a trip down south.

Photos from the Philippines
My Madrid and Venom teammate Zak Maytum and I went to the Philippines to do some skating last year. It was the second-craziest skate trip I’ve ever been on (#1 involved lots of drugs and strip clubs). I posted the video a while back, but never got around to the photos, so check it.
A fat crew in the jungle, this is what most of our sessions looked like. Dudes were hiking these two or three hairpins in insane heat and humidity.

Calvin Staub
We found this spot when we were driving home from Maryhill. The 101 winds down the Oregon coast between the mountains and the beach. When we saw a road that went up into the hills on the GPS, we turned off the highway and checked it out. While most of them had gates, terrible pavement, or no pavement at all, a couple turned out to be rad little spots. We didn’t get into SF until 2 in the morning; but it was worth it.

Facetime with Calvin Staub
Colorado native and Lookout Mountain local Calvin Staub has been hanging out at the skatehouse for the last couple of months. We took a break from skating a local favorite to talk about helmet hair, racing your dad, and how a dirtbag skateboarder can make enough money to eat.
