Eh Team Episode 20: Giants Head Freeride 2011 video
“Now that it’s cold and wet here in Vancouver we’ve finally had time to go through some footage from last summer. Giants Head Freeride tops the list of our favorite events. Three days of freeriding down one of the sickest hills British Columbia has to offer and to top it all off there is a race on the last day. Stoked for this summer.”

Event: Giant’s Head Freeride Dayz
“Giants Head Freeride is a downhill skateboarding event situated in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. This years event took place on July 30th, 31st and August 1st, 2011 (BC Day long weekend) at Giant’s Head Park in Summerland BC. With over 100 riders for this epic three day freeride and a head to head race on Monday afternoon all riders left satisfied. The course consists of 13 expert level hairpin corners and 700 vertical feet of drop, which sends riders through 2.1 km of intense riding. The event is like non other in North America – come be apart of the fun!”
Special thanks to Andrew Monaghan for organizing the event and Landyachtz for being the title sponsor.

Race Photos from Giant’s Head Freeride
Adam “Awger” Auger battles Aaron “from the block” Grulich for one-handed toeside supremacy.
While we certainly dig the laid-back, noncompetitive atmosphere at freerides, if you’re going to shut down a sick hill for three days you might as well have a race and see who’s fastest.
Summerland native “Prince” Dillon Stephens defended his title and took first.
Sector 9′s Big Lou was sporting an absolutely filthy moustache when he got second.
JimZ’s hands-down style was surprisingly fast. He and Madrid rider Justin Rouleau crashed later in the run, nuking Rouleau’s ankle.
Thirty more after the jump, including some dudes whose names we don’t know. See yourself? Let us know so we can put your name up and give you the recognition your steez deserves.

King Brian on Giant’s Head
Brian Elderkin is Canada’s King of Standup. Check out his style as he uses the whole road and high speed carves/slides to control his speed.

More Giant’s Head
Brian “King Brian” Elderkin has awesome standup big man style.
Skeet skeet bang bang. Billy Bones.
Tom “Meatball” Edstrand designed the Evo, co-founded Landyachtz, and was world champion in ’05. He’s still shredding.

Road Trip: Cribb Bomb to Giant’s Head
Kody and Louis flew into Vancouver, Canada and piled into Bricin ‘Striker’ Lyons’ Cribb Bomb RV for the Giant’s Head Freeride. While founded on the coast, Striker and Coastlongboarding roots run deep into the desolate bombs of interior British Columbia. High traffic roads are dangerous and not a place to learn or test your skills.
Striker runs a tight ship and keeps the Cribb in top shape. Be sure not to spill or you’ll have the same fate as Louis.
