In the last year we’ve seen a number of serious injuries and deaths in the downhill skateboarding community. Downhill skateboarding is relatively safe when practiced in a controlled environment; but sometimes things go wrong. If we’re going out in the middle of nowhere to play in the street we need to be responsible and know what to do in the event of an emergency. To that end, SoCal local DT organized a slide jam and first aid safety clinic last Saturday.
Following a righteous slide jam with sumptuous swag giveaways, DT and some qualified first responders instructed the gathered skaters on the best practices for helping an injured skater survive to skate another day.
Skate safe and look out for yourself and your friends. We urge everyone to go out and get CPR certified and trained in first aid.
Mike Montjoy was charging the hill and going huge off the jump ramp. Click through to full size and check how his metal board bends on the landing.
AJ from San Diego has progressed unbelievably quickly and has a fast, aggressive style. Look out for this kid.
Apparently Brett Ciabattini always skates with his backpack on. “I took it off once and ate shit.” We don’t know what he was carrying in there; but his skating was on point. Textbook stalefish.
Pat Schep was visiting from the East Coast and laid down some buttery toeside.
Jimmy Riha took riding dirty to the next level. Dirt standup slide to pop over the sandbags to launch over the gully with clean style. Radical.
