Comet, Caliber and Volante rider, Eric Jensen, recently pasted through SkateHouse for some skating before his film trip up north with the Volante crew. We talked about doing a monthly photo feature of his skate travels and we’re stoked to see the photos he sent over.

“Yo Skate House, Its Eric Jensen writing about that photo column we talked about a few weeks ago. I just got back from Yosemite with the Volante crew and captured some rad photos I’d love for you to share over the skate house page. Ive got some comments to go with the photos that match the jpg name. These are 4 of my favorite from this trip and id be stoked if you could use them. If i could do something monthly for you guys that would be awesome. Ive been working on collecting some night skating in SF images lately. get back to me and let me know what you think.” – Jensen

In case anyone missed the double entendre pertaining to the name of the project, Alpine Routes, serves to emphasize the routes we skate through the mountain passes, and the innate connection we have with the immovable colossi – our roots – as elevation oriented skateboarders.

A helmet and a pair of gloves go a long way, but only offer limited protection. When skating open roads be aware of your surroundings, and stay focused. Brandon walked away from this crash with some minor road rash, and a dislocated shoulder. He first had to avoid getting hit by an oncoming car, and sliding off a 1500 ft cliff. AFB gets pitted in between the chaos, and handles shit like it's sunday school.

The objective of the trip was to gather a collective of skaters who could appreciate escaping the intensity of the city, fapping in nature, and skating some of the most challenging roads NorCal has to offer. As with any adventure that angularly departs from society there were some hardships to be had, yet a surprisingly minimal amount of complaining. Nick was sick the entire trip, AFB had to adjust to sleeping less than fourteen hours a night while eating less than twelve times a day, Blake had to strain his recently reconstructed ACL and meniscus, Chubbs quickly realized he didn’t bring any camping equipment – including a sleeping bag, Brandon had to cuddle with Chubbs, Large David had to do without a single article of warm clothing, and I had to maintain a large swath of road rash shaved off of me on the second day of the trip.

Over the course of the trip we managed to maintain a level somewhere between having a good time, and killing it. – Eric Jensen
