Winter is a tough time for most skaters, as the short days and bad weather make it harder to go skating. Here in SoCal we’re blessed with moderate temperatures and sunny skies, but the sun still sets before five o’clock. Fortunately, we’re only a few days away from the winter solstice, which means the days will soon start to get longer. Here are some photos taken in the couple hours before dark.

David-Alexander Dabic from Vancouver leans left and casts a long shadow.

Brian Peck has frontside rock and rolls pretty dialed.

Arbor and Caliber rider Brandon Tissen twists toeside as the sun goes behind the hill.

Comet and Caliber rider Big Dave Tannaci drops a cess slide on the ramp he and Doug built in the backyard of the skatehouse. We wish him a speedy recovery from his recent minor knee surgery.

Bad Decisions Alex Ameen borrowed my board for a run at the end of the day.

Josh MacEachern from Vancouver drove down with Switzer and went straight to the hills. This corner is the last one on the hill to get light as the sun goes down behind the opposite wall of the canyon.

The sun is down but there’s still enough light in the sky to make it down the hill. Sector 9 rider Chad Gibson leads Rayne‘s Patrick Switzer in the last run of the day.
